It's In His Kiss

Kindle Romance Book Review

Author - Mallory Kane
Title     - It's In His Kiss
Stars   - 3.5

It's In His Kiss
Cat and her fiancé finish on a sour note and she is out of a place to live. As usual, her friend Michael is there to help her through it and pick up the pieces. He and Cat have been friends most of their lives, and it seems only natural for Michael to suggest that Cat stay in his apartment until she finds a place of her own. Neither one of them is primed for the fire that ignites between them.
Cat is afraid that if she falls for Michael, she'll screw it up like she always does. Michael is fearful she'll never love him as much as he loves her.

It's In His Kiss is an okay book, but I felt like Cat bleated too much. While the story is acceptable, for me, the book failed to get something vital going, giving an impression that there is insufficient strength in the detail. There are a few minor editing errors, which need to be ironed. Sex scenes are thin and not raunchy.

However, if you enjoy a light read with a happily ever after, then It's In His Kiss might be for you.

Dane

Kindle Romance

Title     - Dane
Author - Liliana Hart
Stars   - 3
Dane:
Dane returns to his hometown. It is ten years since he left the woman he loved to make a name for himself, but now he’s resolved to claim her once and for all.

Charlotte has no intention of welcoming him back into her life. Her resentment of Dane’s treachery runs deep, and she has no plans to let him hurt her again, especially since she’s trying to protect the son that Dane doesn’t even know exists.

The writing is reasonable, and the characters have potential. The problem is the plot moves too fast for comfort.  The story has promise, but for me, it is too short to care about the characters. These things take time to develop. Too much was left unexpressed and not all problems were addressed.

Married By Mistake

Kindle Romance

Author - Abby Gaines
Title     - Married By Mistake
Stars   - 4

Married By Mistake:
Casey is jilted by her fiancĂ© on live TV, but the show is not over yet, because one of Memphis's most available bachelors marches in to marry her instead.

The intention of millionaire businessman Adam is to help Casey save face. He has no idea that their "fake" wedding is actually legal and binding, and that he really IS married to her.

While they anxiously wait for an annulment, the attention they receive from media and family obliges them to put on a courteous loving-couple facade. The only trouble is, neither one is quite sure who is acting.

 Product Details
Married By Mistake is a pleasing and imaginative story line. Casey's giving nature is perhaps a little over the top, but maybe pressure from family members and media can do that to an easy target.

In the end, Casey did grow a certain resilience which made Married By Mistake quite an enjoyable read

Kindle Romance: 'Scent of Woman' by Ellie Jones

Kindle Romance

Author - Ellie Jones
Title     - Scent of Woman
Stars   - 5

Scent of Woman:
Since losing her husband, Debbie hasn’t been with many men, but it doesn't mean she's ready to be retired from the love stakes. For most of her adult life she's put her requirements on back burner, to raise Samantha. Things really should change.

When her daughter’s mentor, Elliot, breezes into her life, Debbie ignores her instant fascination with the younger man. He has a reputation for dodging women who chase him, so what chance does she stand.

Another stimulating love story from Ellie Jones.

Scent Of Woman should prove popular amongst discerning women everywhere. If Fifty Shades of Grey can be described as 'Mummy Porn', then Scent Of Woman is reading for serious adults.

The characters of Scent Of Woman come across as authentic people with real hopes and desires, the dialogue is realistic, and the narrative evocative. The tempo of the story is fast, the ending something of a tear-jerker - in the nicest possible way, and the sexual content could not be hotter. What more would anyone want?

Weekends Required

Romance Books for Kindle

Author - Sydney Landon
Title     - Weekends Required
Stars   - 3.5

 Weekends Required:
Claire’s boss, Jason, never thought of her as a woman until she jumped out of a cake at his friend's party.

Claire has taken a second job in party planning to support her sick mother. She is dismayed when Jason not only finds out, but has a front-row view of her exploits.

With Jason merging with another company, Claire is required to travel with him, as well as work weekends. All the fantasies she entertained about her boss seem to be coming true. Her best friend Suzy thinks that just getting laid will solve everything. The problem is, Claire sees much more in Jason than mere sex.

Product Details

The storyline of Weekends Required is entertaining. However, at times the dialogue comes across as stilted. The grammar also needs attention, such as the incorrect use of semicolons. At times, grammar spoils what is otherwise an entertaining story.

Weekends Required is an office romance with a twist. The relationship between Claire, Jason, and Claire's friend Suzy is a laugh. The story is amusing at times, the romance acceptable, and the conclusion satisfying. What more can you ask for in a snug romance.

Margarette’s Master

 Kindle Romance

Author - Hayden Maxwell
Title     - Margarette’s Master
Stars   - 5

Margarette’s Master:
Margarette is depressed after leaving her latest job. Her best friend, Jake, decides to take her out for a night on the town to take her mind off things.

They actually end up in a fancy restaurant which he just happens to own, and there things begin to heat up. Will she really be able to explore her sexual side with her best friend?

 Product Details

Margarette’s Master is a fun story. It is plausible, but not hackneyed. There is steam, but it is not over the top with explicit erotica.

There is enough connection with the characters to bond with them, which is a necessary quality with romance; and the story is quite well written. On the whole, Margarette’s Master is sharp and tantalising, a flirty, fun read.

The Reiver

Kindle Romance Book Review

Author - Jackie Barbosa
Title     - The Reiver
Stars   - 3

The Reiver:
Duncan, laird of Lochmorton Castle, is surprised to find that the reiver captured in a raid on his lands is not a boy, but a young woman. She refuses to tell him her name or how she came to be riding with a raiding party.
Duncan cannot stomach imprisoning a woman in his castle dungeon yet neither can he let her go her without reimbursement. Not able to ransom her back to her family, he treats her as a visitor.
He takes to calling her Reva and resolves to seduce the truth of her identity from her. There is a drawback, the reiver may steal his heart before he can reveal her secrets.

Product Details

The Reiver starts off on a good premise. The protagonists, dialogue and background are very acceptable, and I quite liked The Reiver female central character. However, the story needs to be fleshed out and developed a little more.

The storyline of The Reiver seems too rushed with too many loose ends hanging around such as having no real evolution of the love affair. The romance just suddenly ‘happens’ with no build-up or explanation.

Title     - Heartfire
Stars   - 3

Heartfire:
Tessa, a celebrated journalist, is falling in love with her best friend's husband all over again! Tessa and Max dated before he met Leslie. But then Tessa left with secrets and dreams to follow her career, and Max married Leslie.  Max was overwhelmed when he lost his wife, and mother to his son.

Tessa and Max are searching for love but the little boy who clutches his own secret. They could be a real family if they could all be honest with each other. Passion has been burning for years. Can it lead to everlasting love?

 Product Details

Heartfire is a sweet romance about closeness, love and searching for happily-ever-after

Heartfire has a good plot, but somehow lacks that special spark of emotion. There was little passion in the story, so if you’re looking for steam, look elsewhere. Heartfire is a sugary story, but unsurprising.
