The Mistaken Miss

Kindle Romance

Price   -  $5.99

Philip is out for retribution. His father was imprisoned for debt, and the family ruined. Philip turns to crime, to pay off family debts and try to save his family. He returns to England after 10 years in the savage Australian penal colony looking for revenge.

He is determined to destroy Frederick Otway's only daughter, Johanna, and is sure he has convinced her to elope, but the girl he lures in is actually her twin sister Jasmine, and far from being self-satisfied at his achievement and eager to show her the door, he is stunned at the depth of the passion they share, and can't get enough of her.

It is only when Johanna flounces in demanding to know when they are to go to Gretna Green to be married, that Philip realizes his mistake. By then it is too late for both of them. They are in love as well and Jasmine's whole family and powerful Rakehell friends look set to turn their lives into a living hell.

The story feels rather rushed in its approach, as if MacMurrough couldn’t wait to finish so she could get on with the next story. Readers hardly have an opportunity to get to know the central characters, before they are in bed making long-drawn-out love. The characters have barely spoken before lust takes over. All in all it came across as rather contrived and stiff.

If you’re looking for a good bonking book, then this is the one for you. If you’re looking for an intricate believable plot, forget it.
