Never Too Hot
Fire-fighter, Connor, has come to rebuild the 100-year-old family cabin, and to be alone. A horrific blaze has left him scarred inside and out and desperate to return to his Hot Shot crew no matter what it takes.
Ginger has been blistered by a different kind of fire. Having just broken from a bad marriage, she’s withdrawn to the lakeside vacation town in upstate New York to start a new life. She’s finished with men, affairs, and with the threat of desire that can seethe out of control… but then she encounters Connor. As the summer on the lake grows longer, they find themselves sharing a cabin and a romance that will summarily consume them.
The suspense in Never Too Hot isn’t as intense as it could be. The main plot is perhaps a little too obvious and has little engagement outside the bedroom. There are also too many sub-plots which, for me, becomes a distraction from the central characters. By the end of the book I felt a little disappointed. I wanted so much more from Conner and Ginger, but was side-tracked by minor characters trying to find their own happy endings.
On the whole Never Too Hot is not a bad book, but not one of Bella Andre’s best works.
