On-the-run she is rescued by the handsome William Birmingham who believes she’s called Isadore. He’s one of the richest men in England, but she takes him for a common criminal. Since she’d rather be dead than wed to her despicable bridegroom, Sophia pretends to be Isadore and take her chances with the provocative William. But how could she have known that her deception would bring the gallant William into danger from the depraved man she married? How could she have known her mysterious rescuer would ignite passions she never knew she had?
This is a rather unsophisticated story and it is sometimes a struggle to keep turning pages. Cheryl Bolen does a reasonable job with description, and romantic conflict, but at times some of the scenes seemed a bit unconvincing. It is a light, quick read.
